ROM releases, software collections and source code
You can download the latest builds and releases of RISC OS for a number of different machines here. You can also download archives of source code and archives which contain collections of other RISC OS components (e.g. desktop applications, games, modules, etc).
It should be noted that any non-official ROM builds were made using snapshots from the RISC OS Open cvs repository so they include a wide range of updates and fixes which have been submitted by the community. You can build the latest ROM image yourself using the published RISC OS sources.
For each new release, it is expected that IYONIX Ltd will test the latest ROM image and, once they are satisfied that it meets with their test criteria, it will be released to existing IYONIX owners through this web site. You are strongly advised not to reflash your machine with a ROM image until IYONIX Ltd give it the all clear and call it an “official” release.
Unpacking
You should unpack any zipfile download, those which end in ”.zip”, using SparkFS, SparkPlug or a similar unzipping program – see our additional instructions here. Any downloads which are supplied as a (compressed) tarball, those which end in ”.tar” or ”.tar.bz2”, should be unpacked using our UnTarBZ2 application, which can be downloaded here. This application includes a Help file so you should be able to refer to that for further instructions.
Ensure you unpack the archive contents onto a filesystem that supports long filenames and more than 77 files per directory!
