Public OWB (beta) release

After several years since last time it was showed I decided to do a release.
It is by no way perfect and can crash. But it works much(!) better than the
ones you might have tried before.

The RISC OS version of OWB is more or less Webkit1 for RISC OS..

Stuff you need to know:
Alignments are off.. if you don’t like that , use NetSurf.
Things that looks like a button (forms) will probably crash the system with power cycle as the only way out. A good example is rcomps order page.
There is no download manager.
Window height is fixed.
Mouse movement detection is disabled. It is mostly cosmetics , like hovering effect. The only reason for having it in is to be able to select text. It used to work but now it doesn’t. Having it disabled also makes OWB to use very little cpu when idling.

So what can it do?(!)
Show pages with JavaScript. Try old-computers.com , gives you a nice floating object.
Native RISC OS scrollbars (but it also displays internal ones, I left that in because of navigating frames).
Get you pages more in line how they should look like.
Real time resize in a very nice looking way ( try riscository)
Speed. Ones a page is loaded and images are decoded , scrolling is super smooth. On my Titanium , cold start from SATA ssd is about 1s, should be fast enough from sdfs discs.
Paste text into OWB. It works for the first couple of lines. Can be used for pasting/drag text into Google.

Since no bookmarks I use a textfile in StrongED with full addresses with http:// etc. When OWB is loaded it should open a new window when a url is double clicked. The first time it might start NetSurf. In that case quit NetSurf ( or other browsers) and try again.

It has been tested on Pinebook Pro, RPi4 and Titanium. If it doesn’t work on other boards please report.

Bug reports are welcome ,, please write what you did and how (hard) it crashed.
Absolutely no guarantee for anything. If it destroys your filesystem , cpu burns or anything , it is on you.
There is a !System in the archive that you might want to merge. If you are a Iris user, then it shouldn’t be necessary or even recommended.

There was a question about Python,, I am running Python 3.8.8 and OWB at the same time.

I handled over the dl link at today ROUGOL meeting. I did a fix in the template file which seems to cured the url entry bug. Download this file and copy the !OWB over your !OWB.

I got a bug report that OWB crashes if a long menu is opened anywhere on screen. I can confirm that.

I have a patch for it, but waiting for feedback if it works (works here™)

Currently the minimum supported screenmode is 1920×1080.

I added a new function today ,, source view.. I need to find a icon for it =)

Anyone that send me a email will get the link.
The reason for having a “email wall” is that I don’t want random rool visitors
downloading without knowing what they are doing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Widgets are still not working, I am aware of that. I am going to disable the code that freezes the system when a popup is clicked on.

Example: The top menus on iconbar.

In the end this will work! Maybe before christmas =)

No. It uses instructions that aren’t in StrongARM.
