GCC Installation with PackMan crashes

Hello, I tried to install GCC with PackMan with newest RISC OS on Pi. It downloads but during unpacking it stops and there is no more progress. PackMan itself does not crash and can be quit. What can be done? And how can I undo the install in PackMan and try again? So far the only option is to rewrite the RISC OS image. Other way would be unpacking GCC manually but then how about dependencies and boot configuration? Thanks |

Latest GCC consists of literally thousands of small files, and the SD interface in Raspberry Pi is quite slow, even if you use a fast card. From my experience, unpacking GCC takes around 15 minutes, so maybe you should wait a little bit longer.
I use http://www.riscos.info/downloads/gccsdk/gcc-4.1.2-release-2/gccsdk-gcc-core-bin-4.1.2-Rel2.zip which is also Pi 3 compatible, but uses about three times less space. Installing this version comes down to copying !SharedLibs to !Boot.Resources and placing !GCC in the directory of your choice. |
