Bubble Help

Has anyone taken on Bubble Help? It seems to be giving a problem – not sure what starts it – but it stops the machine – and a Alt Break just locks it all up. Running VRPC-DL RO 5.25 (14 Aug 2018) |

I always used Steve Fryatt’s Float http://www.stevefryatt.org.uk/software/float/. Any specific reason to use “Bubble Help”? |

My specific reason for using Bubble Help is that it looks a tiny bit more elegant than Float. |

Two questions: 1, Does it work on 5.23? I ask because something (not sure what) has changed in a weird way in 5.25 – the most obvious casualty of this being HidePtr (this isn’t to say HidePtr was right, the code was really weird, but HidePtr wasn’t what changed…). 2, Is source available? |

Hmmm, looks like the 26 bit sources exist (http://www.vigay.com/thirdparty/) but Philip Ludlam’s 32 bit version…? |

Ooh, odd. On my BB-xM, Bubble Help seems to behave normally until I put the pointer over the Printers icon bar icon. Then I get a Printer Manager error, ‘Abort on data transfer @ FC1951C8@2490’. Aargh, Textile!! That should read,
Clearing the error, everything continues as normal until the pointer is again placed over the Printers icon when the error repeats. Otherwise, Printers and Bubble Help continue to do their thing without anything locking up. That’s Printers 1.89 and Bubble Help 2.21. |

I don’t use it all the time – but I think the problem started with a late-ish version of ro5.25 – when Zap started to play up. No error is given – pointer still moves – until I press AltBreak – VRPC locks up. [edit 1] But loaded a 1,359,915 bytes text file into !StrongEd !StrongEd v4.69f9 (30 Jun 2016) [edit 2] Just tried QDD by Adrian Lees – using the two ALL keys doesn’t work- to get out of the loop. As a note from QDD – by Adrian. It’s a common misconception that DDT cannot be used to debug non-application code, but in fact this is not true. The user interface, however, does not make this trivial in that you must manually run a specific client application of your module under DDT. |

Do you have the HidePtr module within Zap? Find it, kill it, with extreme prejudice. Edit: Home now, so it’s !Zap.Code.Extensions.HidePtr if you have it. |

Have removed HidePtr – I don’t think it was being loaded. Anyway the problem was still here – so downloaded the latest version of StrongEd v4.70a12 (23-Apr-2017). Working ok so far :-| [edit 1] |
