Beagleboard-XM Rev C1 - cannot install

I recently damaged my long serving BB-XM (Rev B) and I’ve just received a replacement. Its a Rev C1. The image created and written by !SDCreate fails to boot, as does any card created by !SystemDisc with the boot files manually installed. !SDcreate adds the necessary files but incorrectly names the u-boot image. It names it u-boot.bin which is not correct for this board, it needs to be u-boot.img. The output from the serial console is; U-Boot SPL 2017.01-00001-g0da4f90ee2 (Jan 09 2017 – 13:56:50) Correcting the u-boot image name gets me further but I end up with; U-Boot 2017.01-00001-g0da4f90ee2 (Jan 09 2017 – 13:56:50 -0600), Build: jenkins-github_Bootloader-Builder-499 and that’s it. I’ve seen similar under linux, when an incorrecvt FDT is used but I have no idea what’s going on here wirh RISC OS. I’ve tried with the stable 5.24 build and the nightly 5.27 build. Anybody got any ideas? |

Ok, answering my own post, I downloaded the latest debian bb-xm image and took the MLO & u-boot image from that and with those, along with the renamimg to u-boot.img, I have a bootable sdcard. |

Hi Mike, Good to see you have it working. I believe that the latest u-boot should work with older revisions and I might see if I can test them at some stage on my old BB-Xm. |

Hi Mike, So I have downloaded the Beaglebaord -Xm Rev C1/C2/C3 4.25 image from elinux.org as directed by the Beagleboard site and extracted that to a 4GB SDCard. I tested the Linux Gnome version on my Beagleboard and it worked. So I took the MLO, U-Boot/Bin and UImage files from that card and installed them in the boot partition of my RISCOS 5.24 set up and made sure that they were all of a type &0FD and then rebooted and I RISCOS 5.24 boots up OK. So as per the Beagleboard site the last Gnome version of the production image v 4.25 does indeed work on earlier board and also the component Boot items work in RISCOS without changing any names. There are also versions of MLO etc available from: riscosports.co.uk/downloads.html Hope that helps. |

Hi Doug, I would imagine then that the MLO provided on the sdcard that came with my Rev C1 board (from Mouser) was the problem. All’s well that ends well. |
