i want to map typical characters to my own combinations of other number keys, wondering how to do that, soon after boot. i want to just use a number pad, but not with ascii code. |

Does !HID do what you require? It’s not easy to figure out how to use, but does provide key mapping. There’s also a utility that allow you to remap individual keys, that’s free, but I can’t for the life of me recall what it’s called. Perhaps someone with better memory can recall its name and provide a link to it. As you’re after combinations, it probably won’t do what you require though. Another option is to code a bespoke keyboard driver, you’ll need to refer to the PRM’s for more detail. |

That would probably be KeyMapper that you’re thinking of. It’s probably the rather obvious functional name that stopped you remembering :) Not better memory, just a query to Google for “risc os keymapper” second link. Which does puzzle me because when I hit the keys for a query it seems to produce better results than others, like my cow-orkers. However, if the OP is looking for something that takes say a pair or three numbers and outputs something different then a utility with a translation table would be needed. |

thanks. i got keymapper and made an obey file. until something better i decided to just change the ’’+’’ key to the alt key. now at least i can type capital ’’a’’ through ’’z’’ with just two decimal numbers. however that is 3 key presses. |
