!MapIt/!TypeFind/!TypeInfo

Hello, Does anyone know if there is a third party 32-bit version of David Sharp’s !MapIt and !Type<> software? I can’t get it to run on RISC OS 6.20 due to an incompatible binary format. I thought compatibility was an issue only for RISC OS 5.x machines! I wonder why ROLtd made such a massive change to the operating system on their last versions? I’ve noticed some areas where 6.20 is buggy and feels less feature complete than 4.39! !MapIt is tremendously useful when my MimeMap/HostFS mappings get garbled to set the file types back as they should be! http://www.davidsharp.com/riscos/ Is there a version of Aemulor for IOMD/4.x/6. machines that bypasses this problem? Thanks, Matt |

AIUI Aemulor’s function is to enable 26-bit s/ware to run on 32-bit OS versions I.e. 5.XX, so you don’t need it when running 4.XX/6.XX (26-bit) OSes. You could try running RPCEmu + 4.02 on a PC I suppose. |

Yeah. That’s politics over sanity. There’s no massive change. ROLtd decided that it was “just better” to refuse to run anything that doesn’t have an AIF header… There ought to be a “Compatibility” option in Configure somewhere that will let older software run. |
