Is that on market, or is it just a promise? Does anyone know wherevto get this, or something like that? |

Yes, I’ve run into that – not only should a phone number be optional (DPA and all that), it completely fails to cope with international numbers. The official advice is to make up a fake number – https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/9359#posts-68346 As for Wispy, it seems a sledgehammer way to solve the problem. Essentially you’re using a secondary machine that might be more powerful than the host just to provide WiFi. 😮 |

That is now fixed – the phone number thing was optional, but once clicked, it seemed to require a UK-style number. Hence, it is now fully removed! |

Thank you. A special thank goes to Riscosbits, for the fast reaction and answer. At the moment i’m using a nano router, which is settable with firefox, but awfull slow and a lot to do to change the network. not possible on the fly. Therefore i decided, to use wispy. |

I can confirm that it is available – I have one, tho’ I haven’t yet tried it – but I can further confirm that Andy is a very helpful individual, has done me more than one service (in the French sense of “rendre service” – favours!), is very approachable, and seems a thoroughly nice guy despite his sense of humour in naming things being questionable to some (Druck)! I have not (and would not) hesitate in consulting him on any related matter! If using a superior m/c to facilitate a WiFi connection to RISC OS is necessary, I’m all for it if the costs (which are not unreasonable) merit it, I’m all for it! Whoops, I’m so enthusiastic I’ve repeated that! A solution which does the job is a solution! I’m happy to support RiscosBits! Sorry for all the plings, but they’re deserved! [Usual disclaimers – not a relative, etc., just a happy customer!] [who’s pedantic about punctuation!] |
