Help Remembering Name of Game (Racing/Space)

Hi guys, I’m trying to remember the name of a space/flying/racing game from the mid-90s that I used to play on either an Acorn 3000 and Acorn 4000. It was set in space and involved flying around on a blue tube that extended out in front of you, while avoiding obstacles and collecting this. This is a very crude drawing of it: https://www.bitmapgaming.com/space-race.jpg Does anyone know what this game was? |

Just noticed that there’s a blog entry from TBA software (developers of FTT) from April 2021 after a gap of 9 years here: http://www.tbasoftware.co.uk/2021/04/back-from-dead-take-2.html#comment-form |

Hahahahaha…
It’s supposed to ask first, and punting data to Google is actually unlawful now in France (and Austria, and Italy…) as a result of Schrems II. https://www.cnil.fr/en/qa-cnils-formal-notices-concerning-use-google-analytics (it’s in English) Oh, and how crap Blogger is can be determined by the comments posted. Great, I suppose, if you want to cheat at doing your coursework. Anyhoo, it’s nice to see some old hands return. And it’s a little bit late, but thank you for adding VFP to the BASIC assembler! |

Wow, thanks, I think that is the name! Are there any screenshots anywhere? Any way I could play it again? EDIT: I’ve found a demo but I can’t get it to load using RPCEmu. Does anyone know which exact hardware FTT was released for? I have loaded up the emulator but it just shows a text editor when I open the rom file: IconSprites <Obey$Dir>.!Sprites |

I’m guessing you unpacked the archive using the host (Windows or whatever)? Unpack it under RISC OS, or set that Run file to be “Obey”, set the Sprites to be “FF9”, and set the RunImage to be “FF8”. That might get you going. |

Thanks for the update. I changed the filetype from Text to Zip, and that allowed me to open the archive from within RISC OS. However, when I try to run the file (which shows up with the correct icon) I get this message: Internal error: abort on instruction fetch at &10056F3C Is there anything else you’d suggest I try? |

Are you using a suitably archaic version of RISC OS and system configuration for this program with RPCEmu? |
Ray Gillespie (9640) 4 posts |
Probably not! I am using RISC OS 5 – what version should I be looking for? |

Anything but RISC OS 5 :) |

Formula Two Thousand requires RISC OS 3.11 |

Oh, it’s been released for free now. Screenshots, video, and download on the JASPP site |
