Yep, solved it here, although my screen is slightly blueish.

I assume the BRG / RGB order is the culprit?

If so , what was the method for correcting it?

The header is available.

It is 16mm thick.

It is an A+ so only one USB port

Its is messy, but it works for now.

Use you a RPi2 with a LTRGB Mode? I think there was a additional entry in the config.txt necessary. I’m not at home, so I’m not take a look at…

You chaps have created some very neat RISCOS tablets, I’m impressed.

Blah, blah, blah. I can’t find anything in all this talk about how to actually get this screen working. Official Pi 7". How does the mdf thing work(I can’t find the secret info)? I realize you guys are all egg heads and talk in shorthand, but come on. I just need a monitor and keyboard to start. 3 days now!
Works fine with raspbian, but nothing with risc.
Downloaded 5 times. Tried that guys start.elf recommendation. Tried the start.elf from raspbian.
Like pulling teeth with this thing!

I don’t have one of these screens, but from the discussion it appears that you may need a recentish firmware (hence the start.elf).
You may also need to check your CONFIG.TXT file to ensure you aren’t forcing HDMI or a specific display mode, or anything like that.
Also try unplugging your HDMI or composite device so it won’t be “sensed” as being present.

Don’t worry about the mode definition (MDF) at this point. That is to think about once you get something appearing on the screen.

By the way, if your username is making reference to the Akira Kurosawa film, the ‘n’ is an ‘m’ because it comes before a ‘b’.

Hey Rick, when I said I downloaded it 5 times, that meant the latest. Maybe if I save up for an hdmi monitor I’ll take another crack at it. For now, screw this. Back to Raspbian.

If you had read the posts, you would have found the answers.
Under RISC OS is currently only the display is supported but not the “Touch” function.
You need RC14 and new firmware (e.g. from Raspian) or you try my Image. Is RC 14 with the changes in the firmware for basic support of DSI and PiZero. Use at your own risk. And you need keyboard and mouse at this time.

I used the latest download, new everything and read through this thread in detail. Keyboard works as I have a mouse pointer, but no desktop. Someone else had this problem here, but no resolution.

Politeness and PC’ness are different things. The former is quite handy when you’re after something that people have to give willingly.

Now, as a freebie:
MDF’s: – fiddling with the Configure,Monitors option is the gui way of selecting and MDF or you can look at the text in !Boot.Choices.Boot.Configure.Monitor and see what is being selected.

If your selected MDF doesn’t contain a definition for the mode you need for the display then you have problems.

Yes. Unless your parents were especially cruel, I’m guessing Crafty Yojinbo is not your real name. You might notice, many of us post using either our real names or in some cases a nickname that they are commonly known by.
That’s what he meant by “an alias”.

Mine was waiting for me when I got home from work today. Been on back order from RS for ages.
Followed the instructions from the RS data sheets here
It does need the two supplied jumper cables for power to be fitted. Two micro USB leads didn’t work for me.

Ensured I had the latest BOOTCODE.BIN, START.ELF, FIXUP.DAT from GitHub and copied the latest harddisc4 from the downloads section on this site over the top of the RC14 SD image, also from this site. Then added the latest RISCOS/IMG from the nightly build – 2015-12-20 08:52:41.
It just works!
Screen resolution needs some adjustment, readable, but not right. To CONFIG.TXT in the !Boot directory (SHIFT select to open) I added:-
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=2

Then select the SD :0 icon, double click !Boot to get some config options.
Select Screen, Monitor type Generic, Resolution 800×480 Pandora, Colours 16 million, followed by set.
Much better! Hope that helps!

Thomas Milius TouchScreen Driver (not downloadable at this time) is working with the DSI Display.
It is a little unusual to use RISCOS only with touch screen but with a little practice it works.

Change the resolution e.g. to 1280×720 works also.
Now I have a good working PiTab with RTC and a bigger accumulator inside.

Nice video, Raik. (and an excellent choice of app to demo!!) Shows it is possible to use RISC OS with touchscreen, though obviously would need work to make it practical.
