Filer bug?

I’ve been copying the contents of my SD card to pCloud using Elesar’s excellent CloudFS utility, and amongst about 26,000 files there have been roughly a score of occasions when Filer has produced an error message: ‘SD-card.Utilities.Artworks2.30.ComponentX.SpriteY not found’, with 3 options, ‘Abort’, ‘Skip’ and ‘Retry’. Selecting the latter allows the copying process to proceed, so why the initial hitch? The card has been checked by Disknight and confirmed good. The same issue has cropped up sporadically ever since I started using RISC OS on a variety of platforms, initially an Archimedes A410/1, then a RiscPC (710 and S/A), Kinetic, Iyonix, RPCEmu and latterly various flavours of Pi, and including RISC OS versions 3, 4 and 5 (currently 5.23 low-vector on a Pi2). Has anyone else had this experience? Is this a known bug? |

Update: it turns out that Disknight can report a disk as ‘good’ which has defects [EDIT: SD cards, at any rate] – I ran ‘repair’ on the SD card just in case, several defects were found and repaired, since when the incidence of ‘file not found’ errors has dwindled to 0 and copying proceeds normally. So it seems to have been a defective disk issue all along… Should have guessed, really. |
