Raspberry Pi 2 at the South West Show

Posted by Steve Revill Thu, 05 Feb 2015 10:05:00 GMT

RISC OS Open are pleased to announce that we will be attending the RISC OS South West Show on Saturday 21st February 2015, near Bristol in the UK.

We will be demonstrating RISC OS running on the all-new Raspberry Pi 2 with a 900 MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor and one GB of RAM. This exciting new development in the Raspberry Pi range of computers has got everyone talking and we’ll be showing off the RISC OS port which was developed behind closed doors during the Pi 2’s secret development.

ROOL will also be selling printed copies of a completely updated version of the RISC OS Style Guide. This has been months in the making and we’ll post a full announcement shortly. On top of that, we’ll have the usual range of gadgets and merchandise to show you all.

Finally, we’ve gone out and bought a USB Robot Arm which can be driven by the software supplied on our RISC OS Pico SD card. If you want a great example of just what you can do with something as simple as our Pico distribution, look no further than that. Oh, and the robot arm comes in kit form so we’ll be giving away goodies to anyone who helps to assemble it on the day!

Dear all, I am very excited!
But as I am for fun only programming assembly, I am wondering about whether the BBC basic assembler includes the NEON features. This would be a significant improvement apart from more Mhz. Can anybody comment?

    Cheers from the Netherlands

Before the show (which is tomorrow), presumably?
