RISC OS in Spaaaaace!

Posted by Steve Revill Sat, 01 Apr 2023 11:34:00 GMT

A major announcement from RISC OS Open: SpaceX has chosen our operating system for their mission to Mars! Preparations are already underway, and RISC OS’s reliability and efficiency make it the perfect fit for the harsh conditions of space travel. RISC OS Open is thrilled to be working with SpaceX on such a ground-breaking project. In fact, our innovative system will be instrumental in helping the first human colonisers establish a home on the Red Planet. Ladies and gentlemen, we are honoured to be selected by SpaceX for this historic mission.

For us, this is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication. Our team is thrilled to be collaborating with SpaceX on such a colossal project. Of course, we know this will not be easy! Let’s celebrate this incredible news and look forward to RISC OS making history on Mars. Stay tuned for more updates from RISC OS Open and SpaceX.

Updated 2nd April 2023: we hope you all had a great April Fool’s Day!

Congratulations! But please don’t forget your earth bound fans/users. Will the RISC OS Martian Edition be a different branch or only add some modules and icons to a standard RISC OS?

As far as we know so far, the new “SpaceX RISC OS Distro” will:

    1) Include a new module called AprilFool which also provides new SWIs:
    OS_BelieveMe
    OS_PushJoke

    2) It will be available only for Raspberry Pi 4 which surely will be the backbone of the computer system for the Mars Mission

    3) The distro will be provided to us for beta testing with a Mars (bar)

Nice joke Steve! And nice to see some fun going on :)
