Ticket #86 (Fixed)Wed Nov 01 09:32:57 UTC 2006

Consider using cvslog2web

Reported by: Andrew Hodgkinson (6) Severity: Enhancement
Part: Web site: RCVSweb and CVSweb (CVS browsing) Release:
Milestone: Status Fixed

Details by Andrew Hodgkinson (6):

Some of the more hacked together parts of RCVSweb lie in the revision parsing code. This is slow and doesn’t work very well; adequate, but I think most people will ignore the revision list. It’s a long way from being as good as the Subversion changeset list.

The tool cvslog2web looks more promising:

It’s designed to be stand-alone or produce output that can be incorporated into a wider page, which is ideal; it provides RSS feeds too, so can match more of Collaboa’s SVN-based feature set.

A more ambitious solution might be to entirely replace the CVSweb/CVShistory combination with a themed version of CVS Monitor, though this is likely to involve considerably more work:

Changelog:

Modified by Andrew Hodgkinson (6) Wed, November 15 2006 - 22:44:40 GMT

  • Status changed from Open to Fixed

RCVSWeb updated to use cvslog2web. Added a few features to cvslog2web to make the integration more complete and submitted the changes back to the developer. Everything’s in Subversion; the source code list for the Web site in Radiant has been updated. The archive auto-generator has had cvslog2web added to its list and been re-run to generate updated tarballs. See Changeset #142, Changeset #143, Changeset #144 and Changeset #145.
