Keyboard ID

The keyboard ID indicates the overall mapping between key caps (i.e. physical keys on a keyboard) and the Low-Level Internal Key Numbers that the keyboard driver uses to communicate key presses to the system via KeyV.

1 Archimedes style keyboard (old-style)
2 PC-AT keyboard (PS/2, USB) (new-style) 1
3 RCMM handset (NCOS)
4 Pandora keyboard/controller
255 None

1 Also used to specify the keyboard type for the Acorn A4 notebook.
