Quick Guide: 7. Input Focus

<< first | << back | welcome ^^ | next >>

Click in the new Edit document window to give input focus back.

Input focus has yellow title bar

Input focus is normally given to windows by clicking in them. It can be taken by other windows for various reasons (e.g. opening a new folder will cause that folder to gain input focus).

RISC OS also supports “hot keys” – any keypress which doesn’t mean anything to the window that has input focus will be passed around all running applications to allow them to do something. For example, shift-ctrl-F12 is the shut down hot key.
