Hello, I am close to finish the fantastic tutorial on WIMP C programming written by Steve Fryatt (http://www.stevefryatt.org.uk/docs/wimp/). Really, this is an amazing piece of tutorial. So, could so explain me how to use ressource file with OSLib to avoid the burden of defining windows and icons? Furthermore, navigating through OSLib StrongHelp manual, I can see how vast this library is. Is there some accessible documentation of it? Thank you for your help. regards François |

OSLib basically provides veneers to all SWIs. SWIs are documented in the PRMs and in the various StrongHelp manuals and in the Wiki https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Programmer’s%20Reference%20Manuals. For “resource files with WinEd”, the signal word to look for is “Templates”. SWIs related to template files are Wimp_OpenTemplate, Wimp_LoadTemplate and Wimp_CloseTemplate. See https://www.riscosopen.org/wiki/documentation/show/Wimp_OpenTemplate And indeed – many parts of WIMP programming are “a piece of cake”, but the devil is in the detail. And once you start leaving the cosy world of WIMP icons for window content and redraw on your own (with sprites, fonts, whatever) and maybe try to also print it, things get much more interesting! Did you have a look at DrWimpC? http://www.drwimpc.co.uk/ |
