Iyonix - No Sound

I managed to get a motherboard for my Iyonix but there is no sound. The is surface mount inductor at L800 (which appears to be part of the souns circuitry) close to the SIGMATEL STAC9750T and it looks like its toast. Also the CID0 & CID1 legs of the STAC9750T are joined by solder, but that may be by design. I don’t suppose anybody could advise on what spec the inductor might be? |

Tungsten TRM page 48 says: 2U2 0805 L801,L800,2,fixed inductor,0805 case. On the schematic page 8 (top right) it’s a 2.2 microH inductor in the analog 5V supply line for the audio chip. Going from 5V, first there is R810 (2.2 Ohm,5%), then testpoint 8011, then L800, then testpoint 82?? to 5V analog which goes to STAC pins 25 and 38 (AVDD). nCID9 and nCID1 (pins 45 and 46) are connected together and go to earth via R844 (0R, 0603 package 5%). |

Great, thank you for the detailed info. Btw. what is the IP status of the Iyonix TRM? Part of the deal with ROD? Can someone elucidate if it’s OK to send it to Chris’s Acorns? I personally don’t know the status but getting eyes on a copy of the TRM would indeed be estremely useful. |

the TRM would be of great help! While you are near this subject, can you confirm that the spdif pin on/near the corner of the stac chip goes to one of the header pins? From what I could gather from the reference the spdif would be running by default, yet there was no signal on mine. The next step would be to study the setup software for a clue why not. |

I think S/PDIF, and MIDI certainly, would benefit from buffering I did make a buffer device at the time, I still have it connected to the sony cdrom s/pdif output. Not all cdrom’s have the output but these iyonix sony’s are good to go. Greatly appreciate having the official description of the header, Ta |
