Try updating to the latest development RISC OS ROM – I submitted a fix for this issue a few months ago |

It sounds like the ROM upgrade has caused your boot sequence to fail halfway through; chances are there’s something in there which doesn’t like the development ROMs which are all using high processor vectors. Try making sure you have ZeroPain installed (it’s included in the ROM downloads), and if that doesn’t fix it try installing the latest beta HardDisc4 image. |

It’s a fair time now since Rick wrote Harinezumi, which was designed to make the boot sequence complete to a usable point and log the success or failure of each element. Do we have anything like it in the official boot sequence? No. |

Hello Thank you for your help. UNfortunatelly, none of the above solved my problem of “Failed to open <PreDesk$Configure> for writing”. I had to insall the latest developer build from scratch with the help of !SystemDisk. Regards François |
