Changing boot info for apps

I downloaded !PDF a while ago and put it in a directory called ‘Utilities’ on the SD card I use on my Pi. I added this to my ‘Look at’ list of apps in Boot, so that every time I double-clicked on a PDF file it would automatically start. Some time later, during a bit of a tidy, I moved !PDF to the Apps directory. I deleted the entry in the Boot ‘Look at’ list, and dragged !PDF to it again to update with the new location. All good – it shows up fine. Now, however, whenever I double-click on a PDF file, I get an error message saying So somewhere in the labyrinthine !Boot structure, I guess there’s something that’s still pointing to the old location for !PDF. I’ve combed through everywhere I can think of (Choices, Resources, etc) and can’t find any references. Any ideas? It’s not a big problem, but I’d be interested to discover the (no doubt stupid) thing I’ve done… |

Try Boot:Choices PreDesk obey and desktop files, and Boot:Utils.BootRun. You can also copy or create a dummy app point to !PDF under Boot:Resources. That reminds me I need to fix my !ShortCut utility, as it requires Sprites to exist and doesn’t understand !App.Themes.Ursula etc. |

So somewhere in the labyrinthine !Boot structure, I guess there’s something that’s still pointing to the old location for !PDF. You can probably track it down using Reporter. Examine Reporter1 using StrongED search listOfFound (F2) and search for !PDF |

Please let me know what you find. Ages ago I moved StrongHep into Apps for easy access, and if the application isn’t running, trying to run it causes an error that it (within Utilities!) cannot be found. Annoying… but not annoying enough for me to bother seeing what naughty thing is retaining stale paths (or any paths for that matter – shouldn’t a repeated Filer_Boot in the various directories set up the appropriate paths without nefarious malarkey?). |

Reporter has had a simple search facility for a while. |

Thanks. No joy, though :)
Thanks John and Martin – I’ll give that a go
Yeah, that’s the problem! I’ll let you know if I find anything |

Reporter has had a simple search facility for a while. It is quite well hidden then. I am using version 2.71 the menu does not appear to have a search or find entry. |
