Sometimes I doubt reality

I had a frustrating time over the weekend. I have a little module called PublicFilter that opens a disc’s Public directory instead of the root if you adjust-click on a drive icon (and opens the Resources directory if you adjust-click on Apps). On an emulator it appeared not to work, so I realised I had to add HostFS support. Ten minute job. I found the source, or sources, called The module No matter what I did, I could make no difference to the built module. Cut a long story short, I eventually realised that its copyright string said 2010, despite my source saying 2013, naturally enough. In an apparent attempt to prove the adage about madness, I repeatedly tried the same actions and was perplexed by the same result: Delete the module It took me an hour to work it out. Aasm (or something) has a bug with hardspaces (or filename length, or something). Here are the conspiring coincidences: 1. Despite being asked to build I think I may be getting old. |

It did make me realise though that if you have multiple machines you naturally want some parts of the boot sequence to be identical and, ideally, synchronised between them. I now use Google Drive to synchronise multiple ‘discs’, much like a permanently accessible ShareFS network, but I’m beginning to see the distinction between ‘discs’ as an anachronism. It’s all my stuff, why do I care that this disc is the ‘Cerilica’ disc, whereas that one used to be the main disc in a two-slice RPC? |

Will we ever see vantage on new hardware..? |

That’s a difficult and complicated question. Vantage was the first third-party program demonstrated on the Iyonix (at its launch). I’ve just tried 1.13 on RO5 under RPCEmu and and it works fine. There may be some ARM7 difficulty, but that’s a SMOP. However, I don’t have any new hardware, I don’t think there’s the demand, and I no longer produce artwork for a living, so its primary customer no longer exists! Even if I had the time, there are a number of other things I’d want to get finished and released first – RO5 VectorExtend, UTF8 at the command line (demonstrable), long sprite names (prototype stage). |

Options: Options 3 has many possibilities round here, option 2 probably has a few, option 1 will cost you a few quid for a new toy and time. |

I have a spare beagle board or Pi if you need one i live in aus so it will take a couple of weeks if you need it, as long as i get a working copy of vantage at the end i would be happy. |

Apologies if this is a repeat! |

I will release a free upgrade for existing users at some stage, no quids necessary. I’ve recently bought cerilica.co.uk for that purpose (cerilica.com is now a Japanese dating site I believe, but Rick’s the expert O_o). However, I won’t be courting any new users, and I can’t put a timescale on it because I have so very little time as it is. |

I’ve heard about tool called !Monitor which was included with Cerilica, it might solve my problem (explained here on the forums). Is there any possibility to obtain it nowadays? |

By the way !monitor runs fine on all my machines including Cortex A15 OMAP5 5432EVM !Vantage runs on Panda ES with Aemulor but not the ZPP Rom version hopefully this problem will be resolved as they find any problems and fix them. |
