Ticket #354 (Fixed)Sat Aug 31 04:01:04 UTC 2013

Footnote links generated by Textile in forum posts are not unique

Reported by: Andrew Hodgkinson (6) Severity: Minor
Part: Web site: Beast (forum engine; forum pages) Release: 3rd public site release
Milestone: 3rd public site release completed Status Fixed

Details by Andrew Hodgkinson (6):

If multiple posts contain footnotes, they all share common anchor names (e.g. “#fn1”) since Textile has no idea of the wider context in which it is running. Options include:

  • Magic parameter in Textile which tells it to add an anchor prefix (we’d use the message ID) – if such a thing exists
  • Post-process every message replacing such anchors with a prefix based equivalent – obvious speed issues.
