Ticket #426 (Open)Thu Sep 29 14:51:33 UTC 2016

Draw: edit text in place rather than in a writable field

Reported by: Sprow (202) Severity: Enhancement
Part: RISC OS: Application Release:
Milestone: New features for RISC OS 5 Status Open

Details by Sprow (202):

When first inserting a text string with the “Az” tool the characters are edited in the diagram in the final font, with primitive (backspace only) editing capability. To edit subsequently (Ctrl-E) the text is then presented in a small dialogue/writable field.

This is difficult with, for example, symbol fonts since the writable uses the desktop font and bears no resemblance to the output characters. Similarly with other fonts where the glyphs differ to the desktop font.

Suggestion: edit the text in place in the original font in the diagram (ie. like when it was first inserted). This would probably need cursor navigation adding to match the Wimp’s writable handling.
