ROMspeed crashes on RISC OS 5

Reported by: Cameron Cawley (3514) Severity: Normal
Part: RISC OS: Boot sequence Release:
Milestone: Status Invalid

Details by Cameron Cawley (3514):

This is a possibility when softloading RISC OS 5 on a RISC OS 3.7 machine, due to the way that !Boot.Choices is initialised on first boot.

Changelog:

Modified by Cameron Cawley (3514) Tue, September 13 2022 - 14:51:18 GMT

  • Part changed from Unspecified to RISC OS: Boot sequence

Modified by Sprow (202) Thu, September 29 2022 - 07:53:32 GMT

This doesn’t look like an issue to me – ROMspeed only exists in the RO370Hook so only gets run on RISC OS 3.70, never on 5.xx.
If you’re trying to boot RISC OS 5 by running the Boot initialised by an earlier RISC OS 3.70 install that’s not a valid combination: the contents of a given !Boot.Choices.Boot must derive from the matching hook directory (!Boot.Choices.Boot isn’t “universal”, otherwise we wouldn’t have the hook directories or !ResetBoot).
