Cortex-A9 port

This section of the wiki contains information about the port of RISC OS to the ARM Cortex-A9 architecture. The initial target is the OMAP 4 family of system on chip devices from Texas Instruments, which are in turn used in their ‘Pandaboard’ reference designs.

Getting started with the OMAP 4:

  • Status of the OMAP 4 port – what does work, what doesn’t
  • Starting from nothing – how to prepare an SD card containing a ROM image, and how to prepare the HardDisc4 disc image
  • Forum discussion thread – main discussion for all things relating to the Cortex-A9/OMAP4 port
  • For advice regarding the bootscript, please check the forum or here for more info.

Technical information for the OMAP 4 specifically:

  • OMAP4430 TRM (ver.AA)
  • OMAP4460 TRM (ver.M)
  • OMAP4470 TRM (ver.E)

General Cortex-A9 information:

  • Software compatibility list
  • A guide for programmers on how they can update their code to run on Cortex-A9 CPUs
